Strip surgery has been used successfully for years to replace thinning hair. For many years this surgical method involved extraction a strip of skin from the back of the head 26cm x 3cm was the only method of follicle extraction. This method would require suturing of the back of the head in order to close the scalp.

As with everything in medicine, techniques move on and become more refined, as well as less invasive. The FUE method was successfully developed in the late 90's by Australian and American doctors. The AHI team combines the FUE extraction method together with the Follipen implantation method. The specialist is able to carefully control the angle of each follicle placed as the insertion of the follicle is through a pen-like device which is ergonomically designed to allow similar repetitive angle placement .
