The AHI Hair Replacement Procedure
Historically
Strip surgery has been used successfully for years to replace thinning hair. For many years this surgical method involved extraction a strip of skin from the back of the head 26cm x 3cm was the only method of follicle extraction. This method would require suturing of the back of the head in order to close the scalp.
Nowadays
As with everything in medicine, techniques move on and become more refined, as well as less invasive. The FUE method was successfully developed in the late 90's by Australian and American doctors. The AHI team combines the FUE extraction method together with the Follipen implantation method. The first hair implanter was developed by Dr Choi of Korea some ten years back and then different variations have been developed by Dr J.C.Kim and Hans Biomed. The tools were developed for the placement of very straight Asian type hair, which demands perfect placement every time.
What is a Follipen?
The Follipen is a tool used for the placement of follicles. It is ideal as it provides the following advantages over traditional surgical slit and forceps placement methods:
Advantages of Follipen over traditional surgical methods
- The specialist is able to carefully control the angle of each follicle placed as the insertion of the follicle is through a pen-like device which is ergonomically designed to allow similar repetitive angle placement . To the client, this simply means that there is a controlled method of placing the hairs at the same angle, direction and depth each time. The placement of the follicle is by far the most important aspect of hair replacement procedures. One will see clearly the results of the procedure for many years and so a natural result is paramount.
- The Follipen allows us to avoid using blades to make openings in the recipient site, thus avoiding scalpel scarring while allowing the specialist to place a higher level of density than is often possible with traditional slit / forceps placement.
Most Commonly Asked Question?
How do I know these newly placed hairs won't fall out too in a few years? It's a good question.......
Answer: When we remove the follicles, we are taking from an area (the donor site) which will clearly hold onto hairs for the rest of your life. Imagine an older gentleman of 70 who's lost a good deal on top but is still left with a rim at the back of the head. This is exactly the area we remove from as these follicles are not testosterone sensitive. Therefore, even though we remove these hairs and replace them into an area which is currently sensitive to testosterone, these new follicles will remain strong and healthy for the rest of your life. For this reason, we provide a written guarantee to each client.
Procedure Costs: Non surgical treatment packages start at 65 euros per month. The AHI FUE hair replacement procedures start at 1500 euros and an average procedure fee is between 3000 euros to 5500 euros, the exact fee will depend on the number of hairs to be placed. We provide a lifetime guarantee for all procedures.
